new cpu dont know what model

Go to solution Solved by proflopper,

its an i5 4670

My brother just bought a new cpu off his friend its an intel i5 but neither of us know what model it is or what socket it fits is there anyway to tell without knowing this information?

Also, we are unable to contact his friend as he just left on a holiday and will not be returning for several weeks.

Everything should be etched into the heat spreader, like you see here. That will tell you the manufacturer, model and everything you need to know.
