Nvdia surround broke my monitor

jjohnthedon1

Hi guys so today I was trying to set up nvdia surround and it freaked out and my monitor wouldn't come back on,

i can use the monitor via dvi port but no longer through the hdmi the monitor connects to the PC but shows no display,

iv already checked the gpu and it drives my other display via hdmi so it's just the monitor.

so question is, can I contact nvdia to replace my monitor as it was there software that broke it or what ?

I don't no what to do ??

I can't believe that it could cause damage through HDMI output. Like power surge or what? Hmm..

I need S340. But more Define S'ish

It's probably not the monitor being broken. At the moment the GPU sees that monitor being connected to the HDMI port it will set up the faulty Nvidia surround settings you applied. You just have to get rid of those settings. Try doing a clean install of the drivers so it may delete the settings you made. It should work after that.

I disabled surround and nothing

and clean driver install still nothing,

if I unplug my other monitors and reboot still nothing but works fine via vga

1) It's highly unlikely that any GPU could kill the monitor.

2) You'd have to PROVE that the monitor was killed by the GPU, two things happening concurrently is not proof.

3) Have you even tried connecting DIFFERENT video source to the monitor input to test it?

Did you actually select clean install or did you just reinstall the drivers? Did you also try to run the monitor off another PC?

Then it maybe changed the screen's firmware, try to put the monitor back to factory settings and it might work again. if not, bad luck because if I remember correctly the Nvidia configuration screen says that if you change certain stuff they are not liable for errors.
