Hello. I am playing Tom Clancy's The Division..

I am reaching 97°C on my R9 280x Dual-X.

My CPU is reaching 60ºC connected with DeepCool Captain 120.

I have an ATX case and mATX mobo so that leaves the inside of the case enough space for airflow..

I dont know what more to do to get lower temperatures..

My complete specs are listed on my Signature.

Is it fine to just leave it running at 97? If not please tell me what to do.. Thanks a lot!

Here's an Image of my System Unit:

that's almost dangerous

holy shit

but try to set a custom fan profile in afterburner to run the card's fans at max.

if not, pour liquid nitrogen on it until desired temps are reached

97 degrees is pretty high for a gpu to be at, especially with that sapphire cooler. Did you try going into something like msi afterburner to set fan speed profiles? Intake fans?

With your GPU and that being an AAA game, I would expect those temps ONLY with high settings. Try lowering the settings to low-medium, given your graphics card won't be able to handle AAA games with high settings

Go download MSI afterburner from here

Install, and from settings-> Fan -> Enable user defined software automatic fan control

and then set your fan speed to about 60% to 80% at around 80 degrees. See if that helps.

It's actually on low-medium.

I have afterburner and I just checked it, fan goes 100% as it reach 90°C. I am uploading a screenshot of it but I dont know why it takes a lot of time to upload.

If your temps are getting this high:

1. check your gpu's cooling is working

2. lower the settings ALL the way and check if that helps

is the card old/previously used?

I bought this last december as clearance sale from a store. It has no box, just a unit. So far it's been running good with other games. It's just with The Division it's going 97. It also has a sticker saying December 2015. So maybe it's unused but im not sure.

Here's my afterburner fan curve..

Set it to 100% at 80 degrees and 80% at 70 degrees. This should be a temporary solution, if your card is still under warranty send it, if not try this:

I think I know the problem now.. My fan stays at 45% 2200 RPM. I tried to manually increase it to 70% 3300 RPM and I can hear the fan speed increase. I'll monitor it again for few mins to check for improvement.

Your Fancurve is useless. Set 100% at 70°.

Your GPU should be throttling at those temperatures, protracted use at 97C WILL kill your card.

Won't kill it but it will certainly lower its life-span

The card is only rated for around 85C, running at 97C it won't last very long.
