FX 6350, FX 8320 or something else on AM3+?

So my cousin and I have built this computer slowly and now it's time to upgrade the CPU. Currently we have an Athlon II X3 425 on an AM3+ socket. Would it be worth it to get pay an extra $20 USD  to get the 8320? Something on the AM3+ socket? And we will not be overclocking any CPUs. For some extra information, we have a Gigabyte 970A-DS3P,  EVGA GTX 770 SC, 8GB RAM, and a 750w PSU. Thanks.

you might want to move over to the lga 1150/1155/1151 platform but the 8320 will be a good improvement

I don't know if you mentioned a CPU cooler but also try and pick up a half decent one if you have a few bucks.

Nah, just going with stock. Trying to save money on this.

You might experience some thermal throttling then. The cooler master hyper t2 is only 13 or so bucks and should do a pretty decent job of cooling the 8320.

Yup! It's a super cheap and outstanding cooler that fits all current and most older CPU sockets.

It's the best CPU from AMD, but is pretty much a mid-tier Intel CPU.

For gaming a FX-6300 is better value but if gaming + more then sure get a FX-8300! (FX-8370 has the Wrait Cooler btw)

Since you won´t be overcklocking, It might be worth it to go with the FX-8350 intead of the 8320, because of its higher clockspeed out of the box.

only skylake is a worthy upgrade these days though And damn what an upgrade that would be.

Haswell doesnt give that huge bonuses to be truly worth it anymore... not with games using all the cores. Only thing haswell has to offer is less stuttering and better minimum FPS in some titles.

You really need to OC to get the value out of the FX series (you will not be able to OC well on that board).

 

The 8300 is $110. which is a pretty good value if you're OC'ing. If you're not, it's fairly mediocre value, and money would be better spent going toward upgrading the motherboard at the same time and grabbing an Intel chip.
