7-9% performance in most applications

12-14% max with very fast ddr4 in applications that rely heavily on RAM.

- the difference is roughly 15-20% I believe

- maybe, with DDR4 becoming so cheap it is really compelling. I am going to upgrade soon (insert trademark sign) and thought about going for Skylake, but probably going for Haswell (refresh) because it would allow me to re use the RAM I already have.

It really depends a lot on your specific case on if it is worth it.

ehh depends, were i live i REALLY is, the processors are only about $10 apart xD but a Z170 board is a good $20-$30 more :D id say it would be worth it for a new build but not an upgrade

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Basically what Atmos said.

There are certain scenarios where the better IPC and faster RAM somehow manages to pull the 6700K far ahead from the 4790K.

Skip to the GTA V and later, Far Cry 4 part. There is an insane 15-30% increase in performance. Honestly not sure what's going on there.
