Questions on RAM

I am going to build a content creation rig, and am trying to figure out what ram to get. Here is the Pcpartpicker link for what I have so far, http://pcpartpicker.com/p/zkNBsY.

What ram do you guys suggest, and how much. Is 32GB just right or is it overkill, or i should just go with 16GB? So Many Questions!

I would start with 16 GB and if it really isn't enough then get another 8 GB stick then another. Also get a Cryorig H7 instead of the Evo 212.

With that setup I would go with 4 8GB sticks so you can upgrade it later if needed. You can take advantage of quad channel without being insane.

and 32GB sounds reasonable for content creation depending on how much ram you use which i guess you dont really know until you try it. or maybe you can google the recommended amount of ram for the content creation apps you use

Should be also I edited in a example! (Your board should be able to take 3300MHz but I just used 3200MHz for example!)

you want a better PSU too. you'll want at least gold efficiency with such a good system.

what software do you use exactly?

adobe premier doesnt really benefit from having a stronger gpu

1) added ram, 4x8gb is a good beginning, you get quad channel speeds and 32 gb, i dont recommend 4x4gb because that will limit your expansion up to 32 gb

2) changed your ssd and hdd to higher capacity as they offer a better value

3) changed your 980 to a r9 390, but feel free to change this if you need other gpu for specific reasons

4) changed your psu to a reliable one, the corsair CX is a fire hazard

as of today

nvidia's driver is murdering people's system (and maybe gpu) with their newest 364.51 driver (seriously its that bad)

 

so i would say amd is doing pretty fine
