So I just unpacked my brand new Audio Technica ATH-M50X headphones that I purchased for around $120, and when I plugged them into the headphone jack on my computer with one of the cables that came with the headphones, the audio quality didn't sound nearly as good as I expected. It sounded quieter than my old $50 Sony headphones from Walmart and even a bit muffled. I am shocked given all of the rave reviews of these headphones. Am I doing something wrong?

get a dac/amp and it'll improve the sound by a huge amount.

Ahh, the quality sounds much better when I plug it into my Nexus. It must be the computer audio.

I have a Focusrite Solo compact interface. Does that suffice.

yeah, you should reinstall your drivers and use the rear ports on the motherboard and not front.

When I plug the headphones into the jack on my interface, I hear no computer audio. I know the jack is working because when I turn live monitoring of my mic on I can hear my mic through my headphones, but when I turn it off, I hear no audio coming from my computer. Is an additional connection from the interface to my PC required besides the USB connection already established?
