S340 good enough for watercooling?

Clanscorpia

Hello, I now really like the clean lines of the S340 and I'm wondering if I would be able to watercool 2 390s and a 6600K in it? Or should I get something like an R5 and mod it? Thanks!

It should be fine, assuming you use all the radiator mounts. It can support a max of 2x140mm in the front (according to the specs on the manufacturer site, it supports 2 of the smaller rads, not  single 240+) and 1x120mm in the rear. That should be fine for what you're doing. So assuming to either get a bay res+pump combo, or get real creative with standalone units, you'll be fine. For some perspective, a single 120mm rad is enough to cool a 295x2, so 2x140mm ones will keep your GPU's, running quite cool.

The S340 is ok but not exactly what i would call the best designed for watercooling as it's mounts options aren't the best, something like the NZXT Noctis 450, H440, or Define S or R5 would be better options as they can house large rads.

Agreed. I would specifically go for the Define S, that thing was literally MADE for watercooling. So much case space for tubing, reservoirs, etc. Can even house a 420 rad on the top :D and looks super sleek like the R5.

if you really like the S340 yea why not, you can fit a 240 or 280 rad in the front and a 120 in the back/top.

i do not have custom watercooling in my S340 but i do have two AIO right now, 280mm in the front and a 120mm in the back.

the only thing you need to worry about the the kind of res+pump you go with because there's not allot of space for that.

also the front radiator has to be 27mm thick!(not sure if 30mm would work) because you will not have anough clearence with that cable management bracket, unless you remove it.

@SirDerpsALot the S340 doesn't support a bay reservoir.

For your situation, it's good enough.

A 280mm in the front(GPUs) and a 120mm in the back(CPU).

The cable management cover on the S340 has a slit of some sort(dunno what to call it) that can hold a reservoir.

For the pump, well... get creative.

Yes it's possible, but it might be tricky to put everything in this case xD

I have S340 case and R9 390 nitro GPU. 2x of those GPUs + 280 front radiator would fit perfectly. But keep in mind that there will be only 2-3cm space between GPU and front radiator, so you won't be able to fit any  reservoir  there.

You could put  reservoir near PSU in "hiden" area but it might be tricky with all the cables you need.

Best idea would be to remove that cable managment thingy and place some reservoir there, but that wouldn't look so well if you ask me xD

Maybe you can put reservoir near top fan ... it's possible, but you will need to improvise :D

I'm planning on getting a Define S now and getting a custom PSU shroud made. May also paint some more highlights than I was planning to
