Getting Data out of a old hard drive

Is there any way to extract data from a laptop hard drive? The laptop won't boot up and I want to get things like music and games off of it so that I don't have to re download/reinstall them. I tried taking the hard drive out of the laptop and connecting it to my PC through a sata port but then the main hard drive won't boot up as well

sata to usb adapter?

funny thing your main doesnt spin, since is used as boot drive.

I don't see why the main HDD won't boot.

 

I would recommend you put the laptop drive into an enclosure and access it as a USB external HDD

yea its like free on amazon xD

Are you sure the boot priority wasn't changed when plugging in the laptop hard drive?
