I'm choosing a processor for a PC I'm building and I need help choosing amd or intel

Intel

Better single-threaded performance, which is important in games.

For example, an i3-6100 dual core w/hyperthreading will wreck and AMD FX-6300 with 6 cores

If no budget, then Intel is the obvious choice.

AMD's for high-end features at a very low price... Intel's for the best-of-the-best at any class (throw the budget out of the window), from single-cores, to even 18-friggin'-cores!

Easy choice then, the i7 6700K is the best CPU you can get for gaming. Pair it with a Z170 motherboard and overclock it with a nice aftermarket cooler.

not everybody needs a pc just for gaming, thats why it wasnt obvius. Anyway for gaming intel is better in every aspect

If you have a good budget and a graphics card, I'd go with the Intel Xeon 1230 v3. It is pretty much a 4790k without integrated graphics.

(BIG NOTE: It cannot be overclocked if your looking to do that)

If all you're doing is gaming, all you really need is an i5. The -4690K would be my go-to there, but the -6600K is also a solid option if you want a bit more future-proofing.

 

If you want to go the i7 route, I'd personally go with the 4790K for price/performance reasons (now that prices on it have crept down towards $300 and the build around it will be cheaper), but again, -6700K for future-proofing and somewhat better performance.

 

If you don't care about overclocking, I'd go with the Xeon E3 1231V3 or a locked 4690/6600.

I say go for something that will fit your budget. For Intel a $97CAD CPU the Intel Pentium G3258 is an unlocked CPU but only has 2 cores. You could also go for if your willing to spend more money an I56600K what is also an unlocked CPU but you can get it cheaper with out the "K" but then it wont be able to overclock it also has 4 cores. On the AMD side you can get the FX-6300 but it is more expensive at $159.99 but it has 6 cores instead of 2 with the G3258 or 4 with the 6600K. A main rule to follow when building a pc specially a gaming one to spend more on your graphic's card. If your not looking to do any overclocking go for what  Pretzel said about the Xeon it is pretty much an i7 4990K with out the builtin graphics so you will need a GPU and ECC R.A.M support. With my experiences in my gaming PC I have a G3258 and it runs perfect for me. If you don't care about the money INTEL  ALL THE WAY!

If Arma or DayZ avoid AMD but for most AAA games the FX-6300 or FX-8320 will do great!
