Is it worth investing in a 980 ti at this point?

Johnmakuta

My GTX 770 finally died on me. I was hoping to wait till the new titan came out or something cheaper with close performance. I was hoping to at least last till the 1080 but it looks like the 1080 will be priced similar to the 980 ti and have similar performance anyway. Thoughts? Should I tough it out for a few months on my old 750 ti (I game at 1440p so frame rates will be shit).

PS - I obviously plan on reselling the 980 ti to buy a 1080 when they come out or wait till the 1080 ti or titan.

No. Get the R9 390X2. It's $800AUD has dual GPU chips, has 16GB of GDDR5 and comes with a free Razer Ouroborus. It competes with 2 GTX 970s (in dx11, at least)

if you plan to resell and can't live with the performance of the 750 then go ahead and pick up a 980ti now. You won't see a 1080ti for quite a while.

at 1440p if your at 60Hz i would recommend a or 970,980, or r9 390 and if your at 120/144Hz then a 980ti would be worth it. Also I would avoid Sli/Crossfire as it often causes more problems than it is worth.

If you need it now and don't mind paying for it, go ahead.  It's not like a 980ti is suddenly going to suck the minute the new gpus come out.  It's still going to be a kickass card.
