Using GTX 980 Ti with RM1000

asim1999

I am a bit worried about using my 980 Ti with my current PSU

I have a Corsair RM1000 and had to RMA it once already. My 980 has bad coil whine as well as instability, probably due to the PSU.Probably due to high ripple output

I am worried about using the 980 Ti with this PSU. If i do, will it permanently affect my 980 Ti with coil whine and instability?

You'll be fine. Don't worry. It could happen with any PSU / GPU combination. I've got a 970 + EVGA 750 G2 (you know, that 9.8/10 EVGA PSU) and guess what: I've coil whine in certain specific workloads.

Just chill about it.

RM series has high ripple and Chinese capacitors, so hardly the best

Nah, SuperFlower released the 2000W Platinum at the same price

Pretty much on par. Except that the AX is digital. However, the Superflower performs the same

Budget wise, if you are not planning for SLI, Corsair AX 760i will get your boat floating. I would not suggest you to use it on your 1000 if it has a coil whine.
