I may have a small problem with malware.

So I have contracted a little bit of malware on my computer. 

I was trying to fix it before because I had adware, the adware had gotten rid of all of my default browsers and installed thebrowser. 

I would like to clean the computer of everything but Windows 10. I have had to install Windows 4 times before this because of various problems with parts and blunders but nothing as bad as this. 

Help?

Well, absolutely you'll want to reinstall that, and maybe buy new HDDs just in case :P  And maybe take some general computer courses so you can be safer and smarter next time ;)

Why buy new HDDs? I don't think a virus will survive a few passes by DBAN. Unless you're suggesting a firmware attack.

Simple, make a bootable Windows 10 USB

I mean honestly it is pretty unlikely he's got something like this despite how horrible it looks but it is possible for viruses to get into the firmware of the HDD... I think that story was about a year ago (give or take many months :p)

Since the November update you can now install 10 directly with a valid key from 7 or 8/8.1

Also if you've already had 10 installed and activated on the machine you can just install 10 directly with no need for a key

I still think buying a new hdd is a little extreme right now, If he wipes it and still has the virus, then its safe to say burn the disk lol. No point in spending $40
