What do I do?

In February I received a settlement from a lawsuit, my parents were somewhat behind on some bills so I lent them some money, I put all the rest in my savings account that my mom made for me a long time ago when I was young, turns out she still had access to it, and literally spent every last dime.. They've given me about.. 1/15th back what they owe me and its been nearly 7 months now.. My stepdad is constantly spending his paychecks on his racetruck, and they never have any leftover to pay me after bills+ his 100+$ a week truck parts he wants..

Earlier today he broke parts in the engine/transmission at a race, and wants to completely replace the motor with the tax money they get back instead of paying me back.....

 

It literally costs me nothing to live at their house, I go to college, I buy my own food, and they don't pay utilities or anything.. What on earth do I do...

Everytime I do my mother just gets all defensive and says she feels bad and to stop bugging her.. I tried talking to my stepdad and he doesn't understand how the budget in our house works.. How do i call the police about it though.. I don't really have any proof she took the money, I think she just directly withdrawed it from her account and spent it all.. Would my bank have record of how it went down? I have no idea where to start or what on earth to do

Alright, I may talk to the lawyer that helped me with my injury stuff, I can involve my grandparents but they'll flip crap if they realize the other part of the settlement was spent solely on a PC, even though I've expressed tons of time I'm very interested in CAD/ Computer things (they're very old-timey and stingey)

Tell your parents to take a loan out with the bank for the money they owe you.

 

The thing with lending family money is that it is hard to bust some heads when it comes to collecting. But if the bank told them to pay them, I know for a fact they would find a way to pay the bank back. With you, they kind of bitch and moan because they really don't want to pay you back and they kind of think that they can't afford to. But with the bank, they will get off ass and do what the bank says because the bank wouldn't give a $h!t when it came to suing them or taking property.

The thing with lending family money is that it is hard to bust some heads when it comes to collecting. But if the bank told them to pay them, I know for a fact they would find a way to pay the bank back. With you, they kind of bitch and moan because they really don't want to pay you back and they kind of think that they can't afford to. But with the bank, they will get off ass and do what the bank says because the bank wouldn't give a $h!t when it came to suing them or taking property.

 

 

They just got a loan the other day from a place they financed their truck at, for 3k, I literally got 250$ after my stepdad spent money on it and they went on a weekend vacation with the 3 of us to crater lake in oregon.. I literally screamed at my mom for 30minutes after she said I'd only get 250 of it after I helped her budget ALL of it out to her bills+stepdad + paying me back I was supposed to get like 1250..

I didnt sue em the first time but yea I'll try and find out what I can do.. because this is just getting retarded, and its like they know i can't force them to do it because I can't move out until I figure out where on earth to get a job that'll work with my back issues without needing to OD on Vicodin everyday

And I feel for you because when my grandpa died he left my mom and his wife's kids (our step family) a bunch of money and instead of the money my mom took the house because he built it by himself about 40 years ago. It is out in the country on some property and it is the perfect place to raise a family. The property is worth $200,000 at least because that was a few years ago and they fixed the house up very nicely. My mom and dad gave it to my sister and her husband for $50,000 and decided that they would let the $150,000 just go to my 3 nephews and my niece.

 

This was 3 years ago and my sister has paid us MAYBE $5,000 so far. My dad told her husband to take a loan out with the bank and pay them back and they had to do that because they were falling behind with us and my of course we are not going to sue my sister.

 

But in your case, a lawsuit might wake them up and show them how much you are hurting. And if they get mad at you during the court hearing, then tell the judge how they are irresponsible with money. It might wake them up, it might make them hate you. And if they hate you, that is their problem.

 

If you want people to change, you MUST provide real consequences for their behavior. I learned this the hard way. And there is no alternative. A drug addict needs to be arrested or almost die before getting off drugs. Lazy people need to feel the consequences before getting off their asses.

its frustrating because my stepdad works 5 days a week 24/7 and is home only on weekends (truck driver) and he just bitches and says I do nothing, yet the entire week when I'm struggling to even bend over and do the dishes, he doesn't see it, and doesnt understand i actually have medical issues, and im not just a no-good lazy guy

 

I'll see what I can do to start a lawsuit, or even threaten them with it and see how it ends up. I'm tired of bitching 24/7 at them and nothing happening.

 

I've been telling them for 2 months now I needed to finish my watercooling stuff before college starts, and i'm now 2 weeks from starting, and I still need another 500$ from them to pay for that.. And it already took 7 months to get 500.. lol
