So I've been using this GTX 760 in my main gaming/general use PC (full specs below) for a while now. When I originally salvaged it from a pre-built system I had, I thought it looked kind of strange. Now that I know a lot more I realize that it's actually really strange, so naturally I figured what better place to show it than the internet.

First off, the cooler design is strange. Can't find anything from Asus or really any manufacturer that looks remotely like it. IMG_20160309_150918.thumb.jpg.d594354f17

Second, and even stranger, is has some type of PCI-ish looking connector on the TOP! It doesn't look like PCI, SLI or anything I can think of. What is this and why would it be in a pre-built PC?IMG_20160309_150951.thumb.jpg.caef020b1a

So... yeah most likely this is not weird at all and I will feel dumb but I thought I'd share it anyways, in case it is something interesting.

1st pic: im guessing they went to the recycle area and took lots of intel heatsink and slapped them into their prebuilt machine's gpu, no one cares what cooler is on their gpu if they're buying it pre-built anyway xD

2nd pic: thats a SLI finger, is it not?

Just to the right and below the cooler in the bottom image (closest thing to the camera in the picture besides the I/O)

That's just a support bracket or something if you're talking about that piece of metal.

It's just above the display ports, and to the left of the metal bracket.

I guess so XD. And after closer inspection and some googling, it's an SLI finger. Looks odd because it's actually 2 of them side by side. Again, really weird because that prebuilt's motherboard only even had one PCIe slot.

2 finger means its capable of atleast 3 way sli

they have sli fingers perhaps due to 760 having the capability to do so, so i guess nvidia makes it a must to include those sli fingers, whether they are going to be used or not

You(the manufacturer= Gigabyte,ASUS whatever) cant remove or add SLI support from a card, that's not how it works, its either has SLI by design, or it doesn't. And many of nVidia's low tear cards does not have it by design so people won't SLI shitty GPU's and complain about performance.

Also. The support bracket is common in Pre-built PC's with GPU's like this as mid tear cards are bigger than the small & light usual shit they put there so for such cards they put a bracket like this so it will not get damaged in shipping.
