Crazy RMA From Reddit

That's really nothing crazy. They always have to send out a replacement that is either the same model, or whatever newer model that is sold for a similar price. And the R9 390x can easily fall into that spot.

Edit: I got a GTX 970 as a replacement back when my GTX 780 broke. I was pretty close to being sent a GTX 980.

I would have rather kept the AX750. But might just be me.

How the fuck can a $400+ card fall into the place of a $200 card?

The RM is better in every way...

It's easy when you buy the card at release. Because then you can easily add another $100 to that. And sometimes they just grab whatever better card that they have laying around.

They could probably easily have sent the guy an R9 380x and the guy would have been happy. But if he paid $300 for the 280x to begin with, then a 380X at current pricing is just flat out cheaper. And they can not send out a card that is of less value to a customer because of certain rules/laws. That is probably why they sent out an 390X instead of anything else.

Thought of the RM1000, and not the RM1000x. Sorry.

:o awesome. On my last GPU Rma i just got my money back.

Me too. My MSI GTX760 broke after 2 years and 4 months they refunded the full price of the card. It was through the retailer though, I was not in direct contact with MSI.
