Trouble installing Windows 10 1511 Update on laptop

Hi there,

 

I've been unsuccessfully trying to upgrade my Windows 10 Pro Upgrade (which upgraded originally from Win8 Pro) to the 1511 Build update (November 2015). Everytime the upgrade process hits around 30-32% in the first of the three steps and then just BSOD and then restarts, rolls back and Bob's your old uncle...

 

My PC upgraded without any issue.

 

Anybody else encountered & got around this? I'm not keen to do a clean install as Alienware is basically useless in providing a restore USB unless paid for... Not like I haven't paid for my original Windows 8 Pro.

 

I'm pretty much fed up now, but I'm getting a sick feeling that I'll have the same problem once Redstone goes live

You can do a clean install of 10 by downloading the image directly from microsoft, 100% legit

Personally i would just do a clean install.

This is why you do not upgrade to windows 10

always do a clean install and avoid issues like these that come up unexpectedly

 

you would have saved yourself time by doing a clean install in the first place

I think it's changed now but didn't you have to upgrade in the early days or there was no way to activate it?

you can activate it with your old windows key ever since november

yeah, so it's changed now   I remember when I first went to 10, I had to upgrade to generate the license, and then I could reinstall fresh, but if you just installed fresh it wouldn't activate and you had to reinstall 7/8.1 and then upgrade again.

Like I said, the drivers and support software for Alienware are a biatch to get...
