Good to know :)...

So for anybody else... Unhook extra monitors before installing the update.

Help! My PC keeps getting a blue screen at startup while I was updating my nvidia drivers for my 970!

Don't update to the latest drivers, they are broken.

Boot into safe mode and use DDU(Display Driver Uninstaller) to remove the current video driver. Then install an older version of driver.

Boot up in safe mode, uninstall the drivers using DDU and then re-install the new driver. Will work then.

No need, the new driver installs perfectly if not updating the older one.

A lot of people are having problems with the current driver both here on LTT and on nVidia forums.

I would never advise someone to install a problematic driver. Sure, romoving it an re/installing it allows it to install, but there can be other problems with the driver as well.

It's been documented on other sites that the only issue is the installation, not the functioning...

Once completely removed, however, they should reinstall without issue.

I only use a single monitor and the shit had to be DDU'ed on my system too. Not that I'm a stranger to having to use DDU on Nvidia drivers.

It happened to me last night too!  I thought that the 970 I bought was broken.  I removed the drivers, put back my old GTX 650ti and it worked fine.

So much for Nvidia being on top of drivers!  LOL!

As you know, I was having problems with the R9 390 from XFX I bought.  Looks like Nvidia wanted to screw up too.

I may wind up giving AMD another chance.  There's a 390X Asus Strix for $60 more than the 390.  What do you guys think about that?

Well then, you have your answer, the statement I made was directed towards the person I was quoting, to which the context applies, ASUS is fine with Nvidia, and it remains to be seen if ASUS will actually make a new cooler for AMD with the R9 4xx series, instead of reusing one used on Kepler.
