Sata master race!

Go to solution Solved by Samfisher,

IDE-> SATA converter? Tons of those.  Or get a simple HDD diagnostic connector kit that has connectors to and from everything.

ok here is my problem i have a TON of photos and videos and some OLD stuff on my grandmothers old computer that has not worked for 10! YEARS!! i pulled the drive out of it in hopes of pulling off the old data...

so the problem is it has IDE instead of SATA so i have no way of pulling the stuff off of it What would be a cheap and easy way of getting everything off of the drive?????

Get an IDE to USB adapter, or maybe IDE to SATA.

right i figured that much but exactly what product would you recommend

Most of these things rarely come from any brand you would know.  ClipTec or A4Tech might have some stuff like that but mostly it's all brandless stuff.

explain???

M.2 drives can use the new NVME standard. They almost look like pieces for memory with the pins on the bottom instead of the side. My 950 pro reads at 2700mb/s and writes at like 1500mb/s compared to most sata ssd's which run at 550 read and write.

The limit of the current SATA protocol is around 600 Megabits/ sec or 600 megabytes  as windows measures it. If you want to go faster you need RAIDED drives.

A SINGLE NVME drive that plugs into a PCIe slot can read at almost 4 times that - 2.5 gigabytes or 2500 megs sec with about 1600 megabytes of write speed per sec.

The drive is an intel 750 Nvme edition,

Hey Galadvin :)

That's quite an interesting and old drive that you have!
As the guys suggested you could get a SATA to IDE adapter and simply connect your drive externally. There are many SATA/IDE to USB cables with power that you can use. Another thing you might come across is an external enclosure that uses the IDE connection.

I'm interested to see the S.M.A.R.T. status of this drive. :)

Post back if you have questions regarding this drive!
