Ray Dolby  of Dolby Laboratories has died at the age of 80

he was the inventor of noise reduction and also surround noise technology 

he won several awards including an Oscar

It's so sad that so many of the original electronics visionaries are dying off now :(

A visionary which didn't have a vision for something we could see, but something we could hear. His work allowed us to achieve a better understanding in the world of audio and let us enjoy a sound-rich world even more. He will be missed by many and remembered by many.
