alright

so my friends both have consoles and macbooks, and obstinately refuse to buy a gaming pc.

The things marked as purchased I already own.

The HD 6450 was free, and I'm definitely upgrading to something like a 260x or 750ti when my birthday rolls around.

For 8 dollars more, I can get a G4400 and H110 motherboard and go skylake, but then I lose the overclocking features, but it may be more futureproof.

Any thoughts? I'd like to keep it near or cheaper than the current parts list

Honestly I'm not sure if the HD graphics on the CPU can be better than the 6450, I think you should test that, try it in some games see which one offers better FPS.

The H110 could only be better if you are convinced you will get a CPU like an i5 in the next 10 months or so, after that the next gen would be kicking in, and there won't be much of a point to upgrade then.

Ewww that PSU.

yeah I know

but I have it, and the build is super low power (170 watts)

I think you are certainly better of with the g4400, i estimate the mobo will be about $15 more expensive and the internal Intel graphics on the g4400 are better then on that gpu.

the motherboard's actually about 7 dollars cheaper, but the RAM is more, so it equates to about 8 dollars more.

But with Intel no longer allowing BCLK overclocking, I will be stuck at stock frequencies

Corsair's CX PSUs won't start to hurt until you push them. This build doesn't even draw half the power capacity of the power supply.
