New phone only recives texts if I just sent one...

I just switched from an iPhone 4s to the Asus Zenfone 2.

I am having trouble receiving text messages. I can only receive a text if I have recently (like in the last 2-3 minutes) sent a text. Otherwise I receive no texts. I have been to the local AT&T store 3 times, they have, updated the device, did what they called a hard reset, made sure the device was listed properly on their servers, and replaced the sim card, all with no results. I have tried switching off 4g, different messenger apps, and every setting I can think of. Still can't receive any texts unless I was just texting. Any ideas???? Thhanks.

If you got the phone on a contract, then just ask if they can replace the phone outright. It looks like theres simply something wrong with the phone

I was trying to avoid that, considering I got the thing all set up the way I wanted it before realizing there was a problem.... I may have to do just that though, I was just hoping maybe it was a problem someone else had as well and knew how to fix.

I attempted to deregister from the apple website, as I had already wiped the iPhone... However when I used the tool on the apple site, it said my number was not registered with iMessage?...

Soooo, hmmmmm. Should I switch the sim back to the iPhone, run through the wizard process on the iPhone, just to get to those setting and try de-registering that way?

You might want to call Apple Support instead and tell them you are trying to switch from iOS to Android.

So after taking into consideration, all the iMessage weirdness, I got the idea to check the settings on my old ipad. Turned off iMessage and FaceTime on the ipad and about 2 minutes later I began receiving text messages normally ( I think, I've only been able to test it a little so far, but I am receiving texts currently) Thanks guys for the advice!!!
