Gogo today revealed that the next major revision of its in-flight Wi-Fi service will deliver peak speeds exceeding 60Mbps. It's called Gogo GTO (for "ground to orbit") and Virgin Airlines has signed on as the company's launch partner. The "next-generation" offering will debut in the second half of 2014, pairing existing satellite technology with Gogo's Air to Ground network. A satellite connection will handle data transmission to planes, with the ATG cellular network returning transmissions to the ground.

pretty interesting, supposedly it will have a low latency and high throughput. this would be nice to have inflight, but i haven't experienced any inflight wifi that was remotely affordable.

Affordable or not I haven't found any inflight wifi to be worth using... flipping 128k connections or close to it...

I was getting 56Mbps link speed on my flight to Miami...and it's only $40 a month for unlimited browsing...That's a fucking great deal for bushiness customers, as fast as my home internet and an $20 cheaper...why not?

This works unlike most of other stuff like Honeywell's service. Aircell has the best service for in flight WiFi.

Back from the dead....

Never actually used the in-flight wifi. Not worth the money. I would rather sleep on the plane of just watch some downloaded tv shows. I guess this is good for people in business who absolutely need to be connected.
