New AMD Polaris GPU spotted-but not on Zauba

A brand new Polaris GPU has been spotted- but it's not on Zauba.

AMD has its next generation of Radeon graphic cards coming up soon and it looks like another one has entered the final testing phase. An AMD (ATI) board with the C91101 code-name was recently given the RRA’s stamp of approval – which is a compulsory loophole for any IC coming into South Korea. We have previously seen another variant of Polaris on Zauba but the part number on the certificate is slightly different – indicating a new configuration of Polaris.

This time, the GPU has been spotted on South Korea's RRA's public domains.

Unlike the States however, RRA publishes its certifications in the public domain, and a brand new board from AMD was just recently certified. The RRA certification is basically a certification that all ASICs need to go through. However, South Korea publishes all of them publicly.

However, this board has not been spotted on Zauba before. Perhaps we missed it.

However, all AMD GPUs have a certain code name which lets us easily spot them.

By the same logic, Polaris boards should have the C9XXXX nomenclature, and this is something we have already seen before. Remember the Baffin XT leak that happened a few days ago? Well, we are now pretty damn sure that we were looking at the big Polaris. Since we are are looking at at least two Polaris iterations, this discovery fits neatly into the grand scheme of things.

I'm not sure this is big Polaris, but it's obviously some sort of Polaris. I guess only time will tell what it really is.

No offense, but is there really a need for all these minor updates/teases about the existence of the Polaris GPUs that don't really contain any useful information? 

 

I know many of us are hyped for the next GPU wars this year, myself included, but I just think all this speculation over code names and shipping numbers is a bit much. We know Polaris exists and that it is on the way. Personally, I prefer to know nothing about it until the day it launches. Prevents me from subconsciously creating any preconceived expectations. Otherwise, I feel like I already know the product (have all the specs) before it launches. Kind of takes away some of the enjoyment of it, IMO.

trust me its not only this forum, you want to know something funnier? i just saw around 3 post in a row where people stated and i quote " i own gtx bla blah bla but i will still recommend AMD gpus coz they are better value and everyone should have it" Wait.... WHAT??? hahaha i dont even?

Yes, I have actually. It's shifted from mostly pro-Nvidia to mostly pro-AMD. I find it a little amusing because the products have not changed in quite some time.
