I don't get why older CS games are considered good?

LokiFire

Used to play in DoD (day of defeat); source tournaments about 10+ years ago. I still play it today quite a lot. It's well optimized and runs fast on a potato. I'm used to it, I'm good at it and I enjoy it. Lots of great memories from back in the day. :)

Was one of the best fps games in it's day and still is today, IMO. Same goes for the other CS based fps games.

For me it's the M1 grand. Absolutely love that rifle. That "ping" when you hit the end of the clip... and sniping without a scope... hehe:D

Great to play, some servers didn't allow you to reload the clip but m1 garand was easy to use.

Grenade launchers were fun to use.

Dof was fun until i got banned from a server because i was using a bind.

No other server can compete with the server that i mostly play on :/

It's true. I'm 33 now and while I can still get up into the top 3 in most rounds most of the time, I don't have the touch like I used to. lol

Now I'm busy honing my racing skills instead. ;)

I played for a few hours and was ripping people to shreds because the guns are so easy in comparison to CSGO's mechanics.

The Deagle is ridiculous in Source and i can 1 shot heads all day long.

There are no competitive servers, it's mostly incredibly random and it can be fun for sure, but not what i was expecting from people with 5000+ hours in such a game that they admire so much.

In CSGO i am only MGE after the rank shift and am pretty ok at the game.

In Source i was destroying veterans.

What is so good about these older games? other than their history prior to GO?

My friend, the really Counter Strike mania started with 1.6 version, Which is half life 1 mod.  Source where Ok, for that time.
As for CS: GO, I don;t see anything special or good in it. yea sure, better animations, textures, sounds,. But game itself is same in general idea.  Strip away all textures and u will have same stuffs as CS 1.6.
As for beating veterans. Well its hard to find real veteran, not idiot who getting on top by  using illegal third part softwares.

I am not CS fan,, I prefer Quake 3, but good times for FPS ended when CS 1.6 got taken by ground of cheaters.. Now pick any FPS game and u can find cheats/exploits..

SO why older games considered great. Well, maybe  because they where good before cheating/haxing mania. Next grapfics  is part of games, but not 70% of its content. Older games didn't had such video scenes as current ones have. And we didn't needed.
And as for comparission of old games vs current(modern) well I think it would suit this video.. Even its comparission modern vs old school.

Getting old is wonderful, when you consider the alternative.
