@xAcid9 The Test change the Graphics Quality on the fly to make sure the FPS stay above 90. At the Point the Graphics Maximum is reached, but still GPU Power is left (best example here of course the 980Ti), it throwes more frames into the pit. The more Power, the more Frames will be displayed.

for some reason the i7-4770k is reporting as 3.5GHz but is overclocked to 4.4GHz...

I have a i7-4790k on the way that I got for free so that'll be fun.

I don't think the VR experience will be very limited by most peoples CPUs though.

Hello,

can you give more details on how to enable SLI for this test?

If I do this "steam://rungameid/323910  -multigpu" it crashes the application?

OK, so I found some interesting stuff.  The first few are obvious but the rest is kind of cool.

First of all the obvious fails

Machine #1:  The wife's minecraft box

CPU:  i5-4570 (non-K) stock

RAM:  8GB DDR3 @ 1600

GPU:  560Ti

Obvious fail on GPU  average fidelity 0, frames below 90FPS 100%,  frames CPU bound 2, Frames Tested 2618

Machine #2:  My 2 year old mid range gaming laptop (Lappy)

CPU:  i7-4702MQ 2.2 (Boost to 3.2)

RAM:  8GB DDR3L@1600

GPU: 760M

Obvious fail on GPU  average fidelity 0, frames below 90FPS 100%,  frames CPU bound 0, Frames Tested 3324

Machine #3:  RAZHEX

CPU:  AMD Phenom 2 X6 1090T @ Stock 3.2

RAM:  8GB DDR3 1600 running at 1333.

I ran this with a few GPUs and tested overclocking since I had it open on the bench.

GPU1:  560Ti

Obvious fail on GPU  average fidelity 0, frames below 90FPS 100%,  frames CPU bound 7, Frames Tested 2099

GPU2:  GTX 760 4GB edition clocked to 1290 (Best I could do without dialing in)

Less obvious fail on GPU  average fidelity 0.3, frames below 90FPS 34.9%,  frames CPU bound 0, Frames Tested 9043

GPU3:  GTX 670 2GB Factory OC blower type.  First clocked to 1160

Less obvious fail on GPU  average fidelity 1.3, frames below 90FPS 19.8%,  frames CPU bound 1, Frames Tested 9662

670 Clocked up to 1210 gave some anomalies:  less <90 but less total frames

Less obvious fail on GPU  average fidelity 0.6, frames below 90FPS 14.5%,  frames CPU bound 0, Frames Tested 9355

GPU4:  GTX 980 @ ~1350MHz

READY  average fidelity 8.4, frames below 90FPS 0 and 0%,  frames CPU bound 3, Frames Tested 10037

Machine #4:  RAZOCT

CPU:  AMD FX-8350 @ stock (this chip is a terrible overclocker)

RAM:  4*4GB DDR3 1600 @ 1600

I also ran this with a few GPU combos since it was open.

GPU1:  GTX 670 @ 1150

Less obvious fail on GPU  average fidelity 0.7, frames below 90FPS 7.9%,  frames CPU bound 8, Frames Tested 9395

same 670 clocked to 1202

Capable  average fidelity 1.1, frames below 90FPS 86 0.9%,  frames CPU bound 3, Frames Tested 9486

same 670 clocked to 1215

Capable  average fidelity 1.1, frames below 90FPS 34 0.3%,  frames CPU bound 1, Frames Tested 9527

same 670 clocked to 1228MHz

Capable  average fidelity 1.2, frames below 90FPS 7 0%,  frames CPU bound 3, Frames Tested 9430

GPU2:  GTX 980

READY  average fidelity 9.1, frames below 90FPS 0 and 0%,  frames CPU bound 1, Frames Tested 9649

Also tried GTX 670s in SLI.  It would run but one GPU stayed clocked at 350 so basically did nothing even though it heated up while the other didn't get to normal clocks (Stayed <900) so it failed with a worse score than a single one did.

So a few interesting things

#1  a GTX 670 is right on the edge of making it with an FX-8350; probably means a 680 does it with a little effort and a 770 easily passes.  Also probably means a 670 makes it easily with a decent Intel CPU.

#2  The 1090t managed to render more frames @ stock than the FX-8350 with a 980.....odd, but we all know AMD has no high end at this point and I really need to get my Skylake machine built..

Some low-end VR games and applications may run alright, but you are well below the minimum spec of the Vive and Rift, so many games will not be able to run smoothly.

I think the gtx 950 is a bit weak for VR. It's still an awesome graphics card though. For VR you need a gtx 970 at least.
