Advice needed, yes or no on my parts list? First build 6600k

ZEBuckeye81

Hey everyone, I've been toying with my parts list and watching prices over the past couple of weeks and I've begun buying components before the deals run out on them and watching for deals on other components.

This is my first build, and may be a little over kill for my needs, however I wanted to go ahead and get on board with skylake and the LGA 1151  board.

This video card is simply a placemarker to help me see what wattage estimate was. I will not immediately be buying a gpu but will be using the on board graphics until Pascal comes out and hopefully I can find a deal on a decent gtx or g9.

I'm still seriously debating the motherboard - I think I've decided on one of these two for the best bang for the buck with lots of features - gigabyte ga-z170x-ud5 or the ga-z170xp-sli. Only about a $25 difference currently.

I also debated going with a evga supernova b2 750 750 instead of the G2 550, but since I don't believe I'll send up doing 2 gpus, I'd rather go with the higher tiered unit (obviously I could always upgrade if I decide to sli or crossfire).

Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice! I'll be heading to Microcenter soon to see what kind of combo deal I can get on a cpu/mobo.

Gotcha, but I'm not worried about the gpu currently. That will be purchased down the road. Right now my main debate is between the two motherboards I listed above.

Better off with a Xeon 1231v3 over an unlocked i5, it's basically an i7 so you get more threads and it should last you a good deal longer

What's your display set up?
