Recommend new Monitor for 1080p gaming, GTX 970

LordDre

Hello Guys!

I have just upgraded my computer and bought an MSI GTX 970. I am also planning on buying a new 1080p monitor ( Dont think any higher resolution would be a good choice with the gtx 970). But there are sooooo many different and can not really decide which would perfectly fit for me. I would use it for gaming (CSGO, GTA 5, Tomb raider, battlefield and any new games)

Dont really know much about this 60 hz vs 144 hz thing? Would i really need 144hz? What about the G-sync?

What would you recommend for me? Around 300 US dollars.

Thanks for the help,

Norbert

144hz is much better than 60hz obviously, G-Sync is optional.

144Hz 1080p IPS doesn't exist, 970 can handle 100+ FPS on 1080p but not on 1440p.

I'd still get a 144hz TN 1080p panel instead of a 60hz IPS one.

Could you suggest one?

You're not wrong, but this is all very subjective. Some very demanding games of the day such as GTA V and Witcher 3 will not allow you to even reach 1080p60 with all settings maxed. I typically aim for 60 fps because I hate the latency and screen tearing that comes from fluctuation in fps and I think a solid 144 fps is a bit much to ask with the demanding games we're seeing.

As for me, I prefer 60 hz IPS, but that's always going to be down to personal preference.

Things for the OP to look for though:
- Contrast ratio
- Response time
- Colors
- User reviews
