Suggestions for ultrawide G-Sync curved 100-144Hz monitor

I'm after a high-end "gaming" monitor.  My minimum requirements (which are high I know!) are ultrawide (3440 x 1440??), curved, G-Sync (I have a 980 gfx card which I'm adding a second one soon) at 100-144Hz.  It will be my main monitor and will replace two of my old Dells.  I will be used for some photoshopping but mostly for FPS shooter and other games.

I currently have Asus PG348Q ROG Swift and Acer XR Predator X34 on my wishlist?  Will two 980s be enough?  Or will I need new cards that support DP1.3?  Should I look at any other monitors?  I read Samsung are bringing out 144Hz 3440 x 1440 Ultra-wide monitors but not sure when?

Acer XR Predator X34

It'll be enough but don't expect everything on Ultra! Be medium to high setting for modern titles to get 100 fps.

See my Build here!

Intel 6700k -  Strix GTX 1080Ti - Corsair AX760 - Corsair Dominator 16GB 3000MHz - ASUS Maximus VIII Hero

Seagate Barracuda 1TB -  Samsung 120GB 840 - Samsung 840 EVO 250GB - Corsair H100i - Corsair Air 540 White -

Corsair AF120 - 2x Noctua NF-F12 - 3 x Noctua NF-S12

 Dell S2417DG - Dell UH2515H

Double 980s should be able to run games at high not ultra. You'll not need DP1.3, since 1.2 is enough to output 4k@60hz, it'll be enough for your sub-4k setup. Personally I'd get double X34s, but that's just my opinion.

Primary Build: i7-4790 · 16GB Hynix DDR3-1600 · Sapphire Tri-X R9 390x · NZXT S340 · Win10 Pro · Seagate Barracuda 1TB T_T

Thanks for your replies.  What would it take to play on ultra settings?

I guess the higher rest needs more gfx power to output the extra pixels?  I can run ultra fine at the moment but of course that's just at 1920x1200.

I read elsewhere on here that FreeSync is more in favour than G-Sync.  Is this the case?  I can't imagine NVIDIA stepping back from G-Sync but if monitor manufacturers start fading out support then they won't have a choice.  It's a shame there isn't a shared standard both AMD and NVIDIA can support.

The ASUS PG348Q is much better than the ACER Predator X34, it has less issues

Ta, yeah I've seen this and all the "best ever" monitor videos Linus has done over the last 12 months. :-)

Apparently the X34 has issues though?

What would it take to get settings up to ultra?

I hear the X34 has issues?  I only need one at ultrawide 34in. :-)

It depends what games you want to play at Ultra settings

Battlefront you will get about 90-110 depending on the map, with two GTX 980ti I get 120 FPS

Battlefield 4 you will get about 120 FPS, depending on how high you want MSAA

I am not sure with the Divisions as it has only been in Beta, so performance should improve once the final game is released, expect higher than 100 FPS though, as the Graphics are not that good even on Ultra setting

Witcher 3 Ultra Hairworks, expect 40 FPS, as two GTX 980ti gets 60 FPS

Anything over 60fps is a jump up from my usual so all sounds good to me.  :-)

So I'll wait for a review but think the Asus monitor with an additional GTX 980 is the option I'll go for.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Best thing to do to maximise your FPS fairly cheaply is wait until Pascal is out and either upgrade to 1080ti or whatever it'll be called or pick up a second 980 on the cheap! With two 970's I struggle getting new Triple AAA Games above 60FPS at 2560x1440.

Could do but I think Pascal is a little way off yet (earliest date I've read is late this year?) and like you say by then you'd probably want to upgrade to that (if the x10 figure is to be believed).

I got my PC from Chillblast and they said they sell my gfx 980 card for £465 so might do that for now then look at upgrading in a year or so with the Pascal gfs cards have settled down.

465?? Have a look on Scan.co.uk. What vendor is your GPU from?

It's an MSI Afterburner GTX 980.  I did have a look around and were getting prices from £450-480. so Chillblast's price seems OK and makes sure I get the exact same card.

Yeah I've seen that.  It doesn't quite look like mine.  Mine has the Afterburner cover and one fan.  From memory I think Chillblast overclocked it so they'll probably do the same for the second one.  Thanks for the link though. :-)
