Drives strangely slow?

Kylie

So I have been running my PC on W10 now for while but over the last month especially (4th month since total reset)

I noticed my drives are all extremely slow. So I took the following measures.

* Ran Malwarebytes full scan premium up to date and rootkit detection.

* Degrafmented all hard drives and "optimized" my SSD using Prirform Defraggler.

* Used CCleaner Pro to clean out my drives and fix registry errors.

I ran a quick test again earlier and my WD black is getting a pathetic 20mbps read Wtf?

You install something like Crystal Disk Info to look at the SMART data for the drive?

Also check for the latest drivers for the motherboard.

WD Black.

WD Blue

Seagate Barracuda

Momentus Thin

MB drivers and BIOS are all up to date.

What does your SMART data look like?

And what are you using to speed test the drives? Crystal Disk Mark? If you're using the speed test tool that's in Defraggler, you need to try Crystal Disk Mark.

I would try backing up all your data, then formatting the drive. Also take a look at your SMART data. It will warn you about problems with your drive.

How do you look at the Smart info?? I thought the info in the screenshots was it.

When you say format. What kind? Windows default? system tool? anything specific?

I used Crystal disk mark.

Ah, sorry, I didn't see those were links.

Hmm, try 4GiB for the Crystal Disk Mark tests, see what you get.

I want to try avoiding having to format the drive if possible, though it might fix it...it just sucks having to move all of the data on the drives (formatting deletes it), I don't think it'll fix it. This is pretty bizarre though.

Wow, the writes on the Samsung are really bad.

The Black is running at the correct speed though, it matches my 1TB WD Black.

Are the Blue, and the two Seagates laptop drives?

Only the momentus is a laptop drive running at 5400.

What speeds do you get when you're copying files to and from the drives from the SSD? For example, on my server, crystal disk mark says my SSD writes at 40MB/s....but it really does write at 550MB/s when moving files. It's some issue with how Windows Server prioritizes background services over front end stuff. Maybe Crystal Disk Mark is reporting limited speeds due to Windows.
