Would you recomend the "ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q"?

Doktor_KlingeL

Hello everyone!

I am about to buy the "ASUS ROG SWIFT PG278Q" Monitor for 674 €.

My question is if I make a good deal or not.

Would you personaly recommend the PG278Q?

It has everything I searched for in a monitor (144 Hz, 1440p, 1 ms).

Greetings!

I have one ....... spiritually! Its gone back to me retailer to swapped cause of a flickering fault. From what I seen of the screen it is very good IQ and smooth. I be prepared you may need to return it as faults are fairly common, but I think its worth it once you eventually get a good one

Maybe wherever you are from it is, but in U.S. Dollars it's not(I don't know the exchange rate).

In my opinion 4k monitors are overpriced in general.  I can't justify paying more than $250-$300 for a monitor for myself, but everyone is different.

Well, it's a TN Panel so, not as good Color reproduction, depth or viewing angles as an IPS, i know it supports G-Sync, but no, the answer is no, check out my signature, my Dell i think is a much better option

4K is dead to me.

It has such a performance cut while not even looking that much better from 1440P.

Just go with an ASUS VG series one.

I personally got the Dell S2716DG which is the same specs but cheaper: http://www.amazon.de/Dell-S2716DG-Monitor-Zoll-144Hz/dp/B01784K78A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1455131586&sr=8-1&keywords=dell+s2716dg

I think it looks nicer and it's Dell so pretty good support as well.

beat me to it lol.

I bought a PG279Q and absolutely love it, massive upgrade over my old T240HD. That being said it's was really expensive, but if you want 165 Hz, 1440p, and an IPS display it's great. If you're willing to sacrifice one of those things there's cheaper options, I'm real happy with my choice though. I was debating getting the PG278Q for a while mostly to save money but I figured the extra cost would be worth it for the IPS panel, that's just me though.

The PG279Q looks great, but it has a reaction time of 4ms, which is quite slow, if i am well informed

4ms response time isn't slow at all, and anyways it's not even a measure of input lag if that's what concerns you. Even if it was, that's 0.004 seconds, which equates to less than a frame of lag.

In my opinion the PG279Q is superior to the PG278q in pretty much every way, it's worth a small price premium for IPS.

Well it averages around 5 ms, but that's not that bad. The PG278Q averages at 2.9 ms, but as The Pikachu Mafia said this isn't input lag. TFT Central has a good review if you wanted to compare specs between the monitors. The PG279Q has a lower overall input lag, I've obviously biased since I bought one though so as to whether or not the price increase is justified is up to you.
