Gaming pc build suggestions with gtx 970

Mendaws

Hi everyone,

I want to build a gaming pc using the gpu gtx 970 and Intel. Also, I would like to add a wifi adapter on it.

Im gonna go with 8gb ram and maybe some SSD (250gb)

Im from Canada and my budget is around 1000-1200$ CAN. Im gonna use a 1080p monitor.

I won't need any keyboard, monitor or mouse.

Any suggestions for a build?

You can do a lot for $1200 (CAN).

Do you have any preferred brands of parts?

Watercooling or Air-cooling?

What form factor?

Basic questions. I, nor anyone can suggest without first getting a basis.

Main Rig -

▸CPU: Intel Core i5 4690k  | ▸GPU: MSi GTX 970 | ▸Cooler: CM Hyper 212 EVO | ▸Case: Corsair 500R

▸Motherboard: MSi Z97 Gaming | ▸RAM: 16GB HyperX Savage | ▸PSU: Rosewill Photon Modular 650W 80+ Gold

Power: CX500

CPU: 6700k (if you wish to over clock) or anything from a 6400-6600

GPU 970

Motherboard: Maybe a z170 krait motherboard, I've heard a few good things about it but I don't know much about motherboards

Case: Anything cheepish, maybe something like a Carbide 100 (mainly up to budget and personal choice

Storage: At least 1x250gb ssd and if you have the budget something like a WDgreen drive

Im not sure if windows is included

Cooling Maybe something like a 212 evo. Very good cooler as far as i have heard

Remember this is Canadian currency. The 6700K and the GTX 970 won't fit in that sort of budget.

Be nice to each other boys and girls. And don't cheap out on a power supply.

Is there a particular reason why you NEED a 970? you can get 10-15 more fps with a 390, unless your utilizing the cuda

RAM these days are super cheap. You get get 16GBs for less than maybe $60 (USD at least).

I have a lot of suggestions. And if you're gonna go with a GTX 970, it's advisable to go with a mobo that's at least $100. The H97 anniversary is an average of $80 around the markets.

Here's some quick suggestions for a $1200 build

Core i5-6600k

MSI Z170 Krait Gaming ATX LGA1151 Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory

Noctua NH-D14

Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Western Digital WD10EZEX

EVGA GeForce GTX 970 4GB FTW ACX 2.0 Video Card

Antec P100 / NZXT S340 / Corsair 300R

EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
