A Processor that Requires A Graphics Card

I am building a machine and I got it all together to find out that it doesn't want to display anything on the screen though the intergrated graphics port. Then I read the box on the processor and it says 'Graphics Card Required'. Does this mean that I can't use intergrated graphics? Do I need to get a graphics card? I am using a Intel Core i5 3350OP LGA1155 for the processor and a MSI ZH77A-G43. The motherboard has intergrated graphics but I'm not sure if I can run that on this processor. Do I need to pick up a graphics card?

You need a graphics card, as the 3350P has no graphics core.

Whoops, wrong section. A mod will find it.

If the processor says that a GPU is required, than a GPU is required. The processor will only work with your motherboard's intergrated graphics if the processor itself was built like that.

The motherboard supports integrated graphics if the cpu has it. It's not on the motherboard but on the cpu.

In your case, the 3350p doesn't have integrated graphics.

The motherboard supports iGPUs if the CPU actually contains one. Yours however does not.

Go out and buy the cheapest thing like a GT card or a 7450 and your sweet.

Ya that was what I was thinking of doing to make sure that was the problem and then by a big fancy one.

You may want to tell us what games you play and what resolution you play at. Otherwise you may waste your money or get something that can't play what you want to play...
