it's on all the 300 series cards... trust me, not doing anything wrong and I can tell you for a fact it's not defective because it's the third card I've gotten from MSI and they all do the same shit. And yes my bios and drivers are the latest and my airflow is fine (actually I bought 2 more fans thinking it would help).

Oh, if it's MSI I believe you. Atrocious support and RMA dept

Quietest cards I know of, yes. ACX cards are my favorite (although I still find them too loud, but again they're the quietest) keep in mind im noise crazy :P

Pascal should be beast mode. New manufacturing process, new tech, GDDR5x / HBM2, all the new bells and whistles. I'm hoping their 980 range card blasts by the 980 Ti, as I'll have that to hold me over until the cut down Titan Pascal (Ti) card. Maybe our dreams will come true and we'll finally have a card that can push 60FPS @ 4K. Wouldn't that be sexy. :D

1440p+ is still a minority resolution. They will not focus on that. There will be 2-3 highend variants like every time.

Pascal would be a waste for 1080p, at least the flagship cards.

You're doing something wrong if you're getting those temps. Maybe bad cooler mount.

Damn. Like the previous AMD cards they're notorious for riding on high temperatures.

That was the 290X reference cooler. My 290 is at a nice 80 deg C under full load in a cramped case with another card in front of it.

I've gotten 100°C at 3.7 GHz (throttled) on my i7-4790K CPU with the 212 Evo.  I was running a recent version of Prime 95, on the small FFT setting.

I hope I don't see temps like that on my laptop's GTX 970M though. :)
