Its dated but you can 1080p game on moderate settings with it.... you can't expect much for $100... in relative terms that is about the price of a good case from Fractal.

Best bet is to save up a budget of $600 for a cheap new build or go ahead and buy this one knowing that its dated, for the money though that isn't bad.

That was the build my father had back in 2009 or 2010, can't fully remember which year. Overall, for 110$ that is an OK deal. I would say to go for it, if you have all the other parts to complete the build.

You can OC that CPU to 4.0 GHz+ IIRC and it'll not bottleneck. Get an upgraded GPU like an R9 380 and you can play pretty much every game out there.

That motherboard alone is worth $100 or so.

Pretty neat deal. I'd take it. The 5870 performs like a 750 Ti so medium settings 1080p is doable

Do you know if the Radeon HD 5870 is a 512MB, 1GB, or 2GB variant?

1GB VRAM should be okay for Medium-High settings (not Ultra) at 1080p with some effects reduced or turned off (i.e. MSAA, AF, particles).

Would be a nice bonus if it is a 2GB version, though -- but not necessary.

Keep in mind, the HD 5000 and HD 6000 series (and older) have now been moved to "Legacy" support, and will no longer get regular driver updates.

The latest drivers from AMD:

I'm still rockin a I7 860 with a 560Ti 2gb! Will it play the newest games at max settings and 1080p nope but It will play them at low/medium. In a week or two I'm building a new system with a 5820k and a 980Ti and I can only hope I get as much out of the new system as I did this one. For $110 I would not hesitate!
