I would wait for the next line of GPUs that are aimed at higher than 1080p and higher refresh rates. 

 

You can basically play all the games you want now, but not on super ultra solid 60 FPS. 

 

If future proof is what you're worried about, now is the worst time to get a GPU. If they weren't changing the nanometer process and possibly introducing 2 new times of VRAM, I would say go for the 980ti. 

 

But every few years they make something worth waiting for and this is one of those years.

No, don't

It doesn't have full DX12 support, wait for next line of graphics cards

Also, dont buy gtx 980, the r9 nano is the same price but has better performance

There's no such thing as future proof, especially with the new generation of graphics cards coming later this year expected to bring a big leap in performance.

and with nvidia... 960 this gen beats 780 last get in some games. new tech, better to buy new.
