Question, is DOS box a good or bad emulator?

Like the title says.

 

If this is not a good choice any better suggestions would appreciated.

I ask because I have some old DOS programs I would like to export some information from some files and I wouldn't mind using it also to play some old DOS games I have as well.

its pretty much the go to DOS emulator, hell Doom 1 on steam comes packed with it

OK, wasnt sure never used a DOS emulator so I was looking around and thought I ask before making the "oops didn't think to ask and downloaded a Trojan" mistake.  ;)

I think DOS box is about the only DOS emulator that people know or care about TBH :P

I use it, works pretty well once it's sorted out. It's the only way to run X-Quest!

There is also Dosemu. But I think its outdated or stopped being developed after dosbox started expanding from only focusing on games.
