CPU upgrade

Budget (including currency):

Country:

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

Hie everyone. Hope everyone is doing well.

I am an American living in Toronto Canada.

I am trying to upgrade my first build.

I have a

ryzen 3600

Gigabyte b450 aorus motherboard.

48gb ddr4 3200 ram

A 7900xt hellhound GPU

A twin tower deepcool CPU cooler

All in a montech king 95 pro case.

I am slowly upgrading my pc. I am trying to avoid a am5 new build if possible. What CPU should I upgrade too for the am4 platform. I understand it's coming to an end. Should I get a 5700x3d or 5800x3d or the 5900x?

I do game but only open world single player off line stuff. Any advice would be appreciated.

5700x3d not too far from 5800x3d but seems to be cheaper, idk your local prices but definetly get either 5700x3d or 5800x3d as their "3D" cache gives ALOT of performance ingames

Thanks. Yeah I found it (5700x3d) for around 300 (cad) and the 5800x3d for around 400(cad). If the difference is minimum I'll grab the 5700x 3d. Thanks again. I will eventually move to am5 but I want to get as much as possible out of my first build.

yes for gaming the difference is very small

3800MT/sec might be a stretch since AM4 runs a 1:1:1 FCLK:MCLK:UCLK. 1800MHz is reliable across those busses on Ryzen 5000 with proven 3600MHz 2x16GB kits.

Are you running 4 DIMMs to get 48GB, like a 2x16GB and 2x8GB kit? I'd recommend just running the single 2x16GB kit for stability, also affording a bit more flexibility with tuning that kit up to 3600MT/sec.

5700x3D is a great choice here, especially if its dramatically cheaper than a 5800x3D in your region. Its a locked CPU, so the only overclocking you can do is on the FCLK. Getting that to run 1800MHz along with a 3600MT/sec kit of RAM is the best most people can do without some really intense tuning, and can be substantial over running stock 1600MHz and a 3200MT/sec RAM configuration.

Yeah. 4 dimms. Originally I had 2 x16. I had had a 2700x but it failed. Before I found out that the CPU was defective I thought it was my ram so I bought 2x8 . Replaced the 2700x under warranty and bought the 3600 at the time. I'll try that overclock though. I wasn't aware I could get that much out of the ram sticks. Thought I was capped at 3200. Thanks.
