I'm new to this forum (although I have been a Linus media group fan for around a year now) and I'm going to be building a new gaming rig soon so I thought I would share the specs and be open to any recommendations or anything for what I should do with it. I'd also like to add that I this is my first full PC build and if I've messed anything up I will probably post about it. I currently have a gaming rig which is getting very old that I am planning to sell. The main specs of my current rig are an AMD fx 4100, 8gb of cheap ram and an MSI geforce gtx 760.

The specs of my new rig:

CPU: Intel core i7 6700k unlocked (4ghz)

Case: NZXT H440 (white)

Motherboard: gigabyte G1 gaming 7 z170 (can't remember the rest of it but its LGA 1151)

Power supply: corsair 860 watt 80 plus platinum.

CPU cooler: cooler master hyper 212 evo

Storage: WD blue 1tb drive at 7200rpm and one Samsung 850 pro 500gb m.2 ssd

RAM: HyperX fury black 16gb (2x8gb) 2133mhz or 2400mhz cause I'm still undecided

GPU: I might be getting an evga 980ti but it is a little pricey.

If there are any possible problems with this rig then I would like to hear about them.

Overkill on the m.2 ... a normal SSD would be better in your case and you could double the capacity.

That case isn't known for great airflow

what are you doing with your old computer? You could reuse the drive and buy an ssd. your psu also is kinda overkill. You don't really need a platinum psu, gold is fine. unless the price difference is not big its not necessary.

If you're gaming save your self the cost and go with an i5 and get the 980ti

Avoid Gigabrick, EVGA G2 is preferable, 250GB m.2 instead of 500GB, 2TB WD Black, Different case airflow is bad on H440, heres what I recommend

Motherboard: MSI Z170-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard  ($82.98 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung 950 PRO 256GB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive  ($188.95 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: Zotac GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card  ($587.99 @ NCIX US)
Total: $1704.67
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

This is what I recommend, not sure what your budget was exactly, but it should come close.

I have something about the Storage. Why don't you opt for the Black edition of WD drives? they're more optimized for performance tasks. I say that because this looks like a no compromises machine..

If I'm not mistaken, they're identical(or extremely close) in performance to the blue, just with a better warranty

?

@OP, I don't really see the reason for a Pro m.2 drive, as the money could be used, and would be better suited for, a 980Ti. Just an 840 EVO would be plenty fast enough.

Why not an EVGA G2/GS unit? Cheaper(If I'm not mistaken) and close to the same quality. Actually chances are the same quality. Just not 80+ platinum,

Oh and if you're really going to OC, get a better cooler. I'd go with something like a Noctua NH-D14 but I think most people will recommend water.

he can spend more on the GPU. M.2 is not necessary.

He already chosen a 980ti which is already good enough.

Looks like you're going balls out with everything, it just doesn't seem to make much sense to get that cheap CPU cooler. It will do, but I'm assuming if you're buying a 6700k you're looking to squeeze every last bit of power out of it you can..

First off I'd like to say that I am incredibly surprised at the speed of replys. I didn't expect any replys in a month, let alone 13 in 2 days. But anyway I did forget to mention that I already have the CPU and the motherboard but the others I haven't got yet. In response to VAKena I don't think I'll need more than 1tb hard drive storage so I had a look at a 1tb version and I may go for that instead. I may go for a better CPU cooler such as the Be Quiet BK018 Dark Rock 3 so if you have any recommendations for good CPU coolers (air cooled) then I will look into it. I plan on purchasing the rest of my components in around 1-2 weeks but I may postpone the purchase spree. As for the case I do love the look of the h440 but if its quite a big problem then I can look for a new one. Again any recommendations for cases will be researched and I preferebaly want a white case with no coloured accents (black is fine).
