Posted January 24, 2016 So I have 2 choices for my new build. Z97 and SLI or Z170 and no SLI. Which is more important for a future upgradabitlity oriented PC? I'm not buying a GPU 'till Pascal and Polaris so thats why I was leaning to the Z97 just in case the nVidia cards are better (hopefully not) but the Z170 has support for the newer CPU's. It's always better to go with the most powerful single card before going with SLI of something that will cost as much or more. Since the original i7s, single core performance has only really increased like 30% and that's over about 6 years. The difference is minuscule. The advantage is there, just not cost effective at the moment. Not on a budget, go Skylake of course. And Skylakes going to have the shortest relevance EVER :lol: If anyone asks you never saw me.
