ethernet cable lenght

Hello, guys i will get ethernet cable to my house from my cousins house and im wondering if lenght of the cable make difference to performance?

mine is 15m long and I can't complain about internet speed in general, ingame I usualy have a ping inbetween 5 and 30.

Also if you intend to share internet, then its almost definitely illegal/violating user agreements. If your sharing a internal network you should be OK.

unless you mean extremely long then no, but extremely long ethernet cables has been used in businesses so you should be fine.

I have 2 ethernet cables of around 20 meters, they go fine up until at least 90 mbit (which was my max connection at that time).

Length doesn't really matter in terms of speeds, but adds up latency.

No difference with Cat5 cables and up. 

 

1000BASE-T has a maximum distance of 100m on Cat5 and up cables.
