Spotify sued in the U.K "Playlist is creative work"

GoodBytes

Spotify is being sued by: Ministry of Sound, a London-based record label, for enabling users to replicate and share the music playlists that the record company makes and sales.

More signs that the music industry record companies are desperate for cash, why adapt when you can sue.

Ministry of Sound, a London-based record label, has filed suit in the UK against Spotify for enabling users to replicate and share the music compilations that the label puts together and sells. The Guardian, a UK publication, today published an editorial from Lohan Presencer, the label's CEO, where he accused Spotify of enabling users to create playlists that copied his company's compilations. He wants the court to order Spotify to remove them.

Keep in mind that Ministry of Sound doesn't own the copyright to the songs in its compilations. It is only claiming ownership of the order in which the songs are.

I live Ministry of Sound, but they own not one of the songs. They can stand no ground, and this is ridiculous.

Ha! I looked Ministry of Sound of XBox Music. I have the service for unlimited music streaming and download. It's one the few albums on the service that you still need to pay to download/listen to the music. But if you search each individual music from their artists albums, you can get them no problem.

What a joke they are.

Wow. Just, wow.

I open Facebook, LinusTechTips, Youtube tabs in that order. I hope I don't get sued for that.

God.

See you in court. I do that in the reverse order, but it's technically the same.

Greedy greedy greedy....  An idea, keep the contents of a playlist the same but change the order and distribute it in that form.

It's good that we can't copy write cooking recipes... this universal laws needs to applied on playlists, and order or doing things.
