Advice with Laptop RAM

Go to solution Solved by Naeaes,

Accorging to Gskill.com, that laptop isn't on the QVL. Kingston has a few known-good sticks.

I've been looking into upgrading the RAM on my laptop. I have an Asus GL551JW-WH71. I'm quite a novice when it comes to this sort of thing, but I have seen tutorials and have found them easy to follow.

On Asus's website, it says I have 2 dimm slots for upgradability to 16GB, but in resource manager, it says one out of four slots are being used. Does that mean I have 2 or 4 slots? Regardless, I plan to fill that extra slot with something compatible. Asus says my laptop uses ddr3l sdram 1600mhz.

With that in mind, I've been looking at this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=20-231-704 Can I use this in my laptop? Or can I get something with a higher clock speed?

(Side note: I know adding ram doesn't do a whole lot performance wise, but the RAM will be used for Blender, miscellaneous tasks, and bragging rights.)

Thanks so much for your help! :)
