Which R9 390 is Best?

That's the sapphire r9 390 length in a NZXT s340. It's a pretty beastly card.

What resolution are you playing at? I ask because at 1080p the card never went above 54°C and at 1440p it never went above 65°C both with a custom fan profile in msi afterburner.

I'll be buying a second 390 soon, I highly recommend their cards and the 390 is awesome having 8GB of VRAM. Even at 1440p I'm running black ops 3 with an average of 90fps

Why not go with a 980 ti or Fury X instead, or even better, wait for 14nm GCN 4.0 goodness?

Well I'm staying with AMD for a while since I bought a BenQ 1440p 144hz Freesync monitor.

Also, I actually had a Fury X. I bought it a few weeks ago, had it for 4 days before selling it and putting my 390 back in. It was nice having an AIO on the card, but the 4GB of VRAM was an issue. I'll be clear, 4GB was probably PLENTY for most games right now at 1440p. However, i play a lot of Black Ops 3, and in bo3 if you have 4GB or less of VRAM, it doesn't allow you to choose "extra textures" option so you can only play the game on high settings rather than what would be considered "ultra". That's a big deal for me since having the extra textures makes the game look amazing at 1440p.

So... After I found out about the 4GB issue with bo3, I decided to just sell it and buy another 390.

I'll still be upgrading to whatever new stuff comes out this year.

Nice detailed response dude. Yeah, a 390 at 1150 will match a highly overclocked 970 most of the time. However they still trade blows in a lot of games. The MSI card is great. Just watch out for GPU sag and make sure there is good airflow

Ah... Gpu sag... My pcs+ backplate unexpectedly did quite a good job at holding the fat boy up
