My 4770K is running absurdly hot for its voltage and installed cpu cooler. I'm using a Phanteks PH-TC12DX with Artic Cooling MX-4 paste as the TIM. I've already reseated once with zero temperature change. My voltage is fixed at 1.1v with a clock speed of 4.1 GHz. Ambient temps are roughly 22c

When running prime95 in Large in-place FFT mode or OCCT LinPack with AVX enabled, my core temps break the 80c barrier. Or at least according to HWMonitor, RealTemp v3.7, SpeedFan, and HWInfo. The Asus AI Suite 3 reports 60c along with the Q-Code LED readout on the back of my Maximus 6 Impact. Also, all my fans are set for 12v, except all off of motherboard headers.

My case is a BitFenix Prodigy. I have a Spectre Pro 200mm for an intake, 2x Spectre Pro 120mm for roof exhaust, 1x Spectre Pro 140mm for rear exhaust, and the stock fans that come with the PH-TC12DX in a push-pull configuration on the cooler. The triple HDD rack and optical drive bay is removed to make way for my GTX 660 and one of the roof exhausts. Therefore, airflow is theoretically quite natural.

OS-if that matters-is Windows 8 64-bit.

My question to you guys is what temp monitoring software should I trust and how can I lower my temps without voiding any sort of warranties(ie NO DELIDDING).

yeah, haswell doesn't like overlclocking. Go back to stock settings.

Yes all of my fans are spinning and pushing air in my planned orientation. I used the pea method to apply TIM and the total amount of TIM used was about 10% more than the volume of an uncooked pea.

i think you got unlucky in the silicon lottery and its an haswell. it should not be a K series

Bad luck of the draw. You can always delid the bloody thing to see if that helps.

Also, I'm comfortable with 90C in Prime95. In real world scenarios, you won't hit that temp by a mile. If shit does hit the fence, 90C is still 15 degrees below Tjunction according to Intel spec, so you're fine there :)

sounds like a bad overclocker, run the tests on stock and see what your temps are.

Why does intel say "unlocked"  when my hotdog overclocks better than a 4770k

well, can you change the multiplier of your hotdog?
