SSD Choice between 850evo and 850pro

Rakh84

Hello :) I watched a lot of videos bout Samsung 850 series and tried  some of them and i find them simply amazing ! Warranty is not that big of deal for me ,since i will prolly replace it in 5y by some higher capacity sdd ,since i hope prices will drop a lot by that point :P So besides 5y longer warranty ,is there really any other big reason to go for 850 pro series ,over 850 evo ? Thanks in advance. I forgot to add i'm going for 240gb one.

Slightly faster and more reliable.

Not really worth it imo.

Just remember: Random people on the internet ALWAYS know more than professionals, when someone's lying, AND can predict the future.

Well, the 850 Evo is TLC (not sure if it has the same problems as the 840 Evo that Samsung had to come up with a fix for it) while the 850 Pro is MLC. The Evo and the Pro are pretty fast anyways (I dunno which one is slower, but its a negligible difference), but if I remember correctly, the Pro is a more reliable SSD compared to the Evo.

For just regular home use, I'd say no. The EVO is plenty fast for your everyday drive.

If anything, even for home use, I somewhat would prefer the Crucial MX200 over the Evo. Its negligibly slower (or the same speed, if not slightly faster as I haven't checked the benchmarks for the MX200 yet) and is pretty reliable, too.
