what DDR3 should I get?

CPU: I7 4790K

MOBO: asus z97-a

I want 32 GB and I got about 150$ for it... is it posible?

Btw my cpu says that it is dual chanel. does that mean that I can only use 2 sticks? what does that mean? I was planing on buying 4x8GB corsair maybe.

it just means two sticks of ram would run a little faster, impossible to notice the difference though. 4x8GB is good.

Dual channel means you can use two sticks per channel but that motherboard will still let you use four sticks. That RAM is fairly good.

You can use 4 sticks of memory with your cpu and you can get it for 150$. I just brought a kit of 32gb DDR4 for 149.99.

Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, G.Skill, really doesn't matter, just pick a colour and price.

Is there really a noticeable difference in performance when you're running dual channel? Before it was a big deal but nowadays even "faster" memory is pretty hard to make out the difference.

Not really, it's just kind of difficult at this point to find a CPU/motherboard that doesn't support dual or quad channel.

hey guys, btw, does speed matter?

Not really beyond 1600 Mhz on Intel CPU's

Yes, it can make real differences in cpu bound sections of games. Because you're likely to be gpu bound most of the time even at 1080p if you have a card like a 950/960/970/980 or 370/380/380x/390/390x you won't notice differences in average framerates except in extremely cpu bound games like Arma III, but you will often notice significantly better minimum framerates in games with faster memory, and you'll hit low framerates less often. For instance, in GTA V at a mix of very high/ultra 1080p on my system I get a close to 10% higher minimum framerate with my DDR3-2400 kit than I did with my DDR3-1600 kit (with a GTX 970 and Xeon E3-1231v3 on an MSI Z97S Krait board). People will say who cares about ~5 fps but it's the difference between smooth gameplay at all times with my DDR3-2400 kit and having to either lower settings for smooth gameplay or deal with jarring framerate drops into the low 50s when driving in a certain area in GTA V with the DDR3-1600 kit. It's a completely obvious difference to me to only drop into the high 50s vs the low 50s. High 50s doesn't feel much different than 60 fps does in GTA V, but low 50s are annoying to me.
