Ok so, I have a problem with my motherboard and RAM and I have to send it back so they give me a new one, and this will probably last a month ? IDK, anyways, what I thought is, that since I have to unmount my cooler, and since I wanted to paint it for a while now, but never wanted to unmout it from my MB, I should take advantage of the fact that I won't need it for a while to paint it.

Ok so I have a CM Hyper 212 Evo, and I wanted to know, how should I do to paint my cooler ? Which procedure should I respect and what do I need to avoid ?

If I paint it, will this affect the performance of the cooler ?

Is the color gonna peel off after a while ?

So many questions, so few info...

Thanks in advance for your help guys!

Painting a heatsink would render it pretty much useless.

Take off the top fin and paint that if you must: http://www.overclock.net/t/1091063/removing-heatsink-fin#post_14567592

Just what I thought, a friend of mine told me that there are no risks, but there are apparently, thanks guys.

And yes, I've seen this before, part of the reason why I wanted to paint my heatsink, but I think I'm just gonna paint the top cover.

If you are going to paint a heatsink, I would suggest only painting the uppermost fin for the looks. That's what I did with my Havik 140 at least, haven't seen much difference in CPU temperatures pre- and post painting.
