Classifieds question regarding shipping

Hi,

I'm considering buying an item from the Classifieds section but the seller is in North America whereas I am in London, UK. They stated that shipping to the UK would be $40 but does anyone know if I will have to pay for import duties/tax etc to get the item to the UK as well as shipping?

(It's a Graphics card)

Cheers.

I don't like 2D games...I just couldn't get into them.. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Probably yes.  It's always the buyer's responsibility to understand what import customs / duties / taxes might be charged.

There are some limit which states how expensive you can get before take take tax/import duties. With GPU it will be over that limit. And yes, its place for p2p, gifts etc. My brother almost had to pay import duties for sending his own old and used clothes back from exchange student semester in States. Lucky for us customs officers were nice and didn't snoop into further. Any receipt or mark that those clothes were new and it would have been whole another thing.

i sent a 4590k to london:

$28 for USPS shipping, $7.53 for insurance (buyer request), package was valued

customs priced at $250 and the buyer had a 25 pound import tax to pay. and it

was also considered as a gift to help (did not help).

i had sent a MSI GTX 560ti HAWK to london:

$53 USPS shipping, no insurance, package was valued as scrap and buyer had no

duties to pay. sneaky, yes, but there is no guarantee that the buyer will/will not have

to pay duties.

so be aware that you might have to pay and that is the gamble, along with the

condition of the part when received.

If any duties/taxes need to be paid, it will be on the buyer. You should also request that the package be sent using USPS as both Fedex and UPS are more expensive as well as charging a bogus "customs fee" that is unrelated to taxes.
