I have a hdd connected to my router and i access the files on my laptop. Is there a way to access them from my phone/tablet

you could use kodi, i think es file explorer has network access, and i believe vlc can do this aswell.

Use ES File Explorer.

get VLC player. If you need to access physical files, then get File Explorer. Bot work well in my opinion.

I actually like the Asus file explorer better than es now. It's available for everyone one. Got it on my acer tablet along with my phone.

See if your router can host a wan nas.
